How Much Is a Brazilian Wax?
Silky-smooth, hair-free skin shouldn’t be prohibitively expensive. In fact, we believe that routine hair removal should fit comfortably into your budget and schedule. So, how much can you expect to pay for a Brazilian wax? Join us as we explore the average cost of Brazilian waxing treatments and the factors that may impact prices.
How much does a Brazilian wax cost?
Brazilian waxing prices fluctuate based on a number of factors. Let’s break down the basics:
Factors that affect the cost
Your location plays an important role in determining how much a Brazilian wax costs. In high-cost-of-living areas, you can expect to pay as much as $125 for a standard wax, while you may find similar services for as little as $30 in other parts of the country. You’ll also pay a premium for waxes at a high-end med spa compared to family-owned salons.
What’s the average price for Brazilian waxing?
Throughout the US, the typical price for a full Brazilian wax is around $75, but you can expect to pay around $72 at The Wax Studio.
Are there other price considerations?
Your waxing specialist may offer package deals at a discounted price, so you can remove more hair for less. You might bundle intimate hair removal with an underarm or eyebrow wax to round out your treatment. Other salon specials may include reduced rates for first-time clients or promos for regular visitors.
Keep in mind that while gratuity is up to you, a tip is a great way to show your appreciation for a gentle technique and a thorough hair removal session.

What does a Brazilian wax include?
A full Brazilian wax removes all unwanted body hair throughout your intimate area, including:
Front
Much of the hair removed during a Brazilian wax comes from the pubic mound and labia. While many choose to go completely bare, others opt for a landing strip or other decorative customization.
Back
Your treatment provider will work from front to back, removing hair along the butt crack or strip. We know, this doesn’t sound particularly comfortable, but we promise it isn’t that bad. Your hair removal expert will use a hard wax formulated for sensitive areas, along with a gentle technique to minimize discomfort.
Sides
Brazilian waxes also eliminate hair from the bikini line, often including a couple of inches of the upper thigh.
Other areas
In addition to the bikini line, pubic area, and butt strip, you may be able to include extras in your Brazilian wax, including your butt cheeks, stomach strip, or upper leg.

How to make Brazilian wax results last longer
A little extra pre- and post-wax care will help you achieve long-lasting results. Here’s how you can make the most of each session:
Follow proper prep before waxing
Adequate hair growth is necessary for a safe and effective Brazilian wax. Hair should be at least ¼” long, typically two to three weeks of uninterrupted growth.
If you spend your days in teeny bikinis or have a standing appointment at the tanning salon, you’ll need to make some changes to your routine before your Brazilian wax. Sun exposure makes skin more sensitive and prone to inflammation, so avoid UV rays in the week leading up to your appointment. One or two days before your session, gently exfoliate your skin to help the wax adhere firmly to your hair.
On the day of your appointment, cleanse your skin to remove any oils or moisturizers, and avoid applying any topical products to the treatment area. We suggest wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes, including breathable cotton underwear, to prevent friction and irritation.
Follow your aftercare instructions
Just like waxing prep, waxing aftercare is essential for the best results. In the first 24 to 48 hours after a Brazilian wax, it’s essential to avoid heat and friction. Stick to lukewarm showers and skip the gym until any redness and inflammation subsides. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated, and continue avoiding sun exposure as your skin heals.
As your hair grows back, strands can become trapped beneath the skin if follicles are clogged with dry, flaky skin cells. Once the initial recovery period is complete, begin exfoliating a couple of times a week to prevent ingrown hairs.
Don’t shave!
Since waxing removes the root of each hair from the follicle, you can look forward to weeks of silky-smooth skin. However, after your first wax, you may notice fresh hairs appearing after only a few days.
This is because your hair cycles are out of sync, and wax can’t remove hairs from below the skin’s surface. As you maintain a consistent waxing routine, your growth cycles will synchronize, and you’ll relish that hairless feeling for even longer.
